Hyderabad emerging as global entertainment hub, says Komatireddy

Hyderabad: Telangana is positioning Hyderabad as a global hub for entertainment and creative industries, said Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy while addressing delegates at the Global Summit 2025.

Speaking on the theme “The Creative Century: India’s Soft Power & The Future of Entertainment,” the Minister said India is on the verge of leading the global creative economy. He highlighted that Indian cinema, music, gaming, and digital platforms are already reaching audiences in over 170 countries, with Indian talent contributing to global productions from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

Komatireddy said Hyderabad has become a key centre for creative industries, thanks to its world-class infrastructure, including Ramoji Film City, top-tier VFX and gaming firms, and a skilled workforce. He said the state government is executing an “execution-ready roadmap” to scale up this ecosystem with incentive-driven film policies, international production support, AVGC-XR innovation centres, and global industry collaborations.

He also announced new support measures for the sector, including capital subsidies for large investments, production reimbursements for companies using local resources, and mandatory welfare fund contributions from ticket price hikes.

Calling for sustainable industry growth, he stressed balancing expansion with fair conditions for workers. He identified the future of entertainment as a convergence of cinema, OTT, esports, virtual production, and immersive digital storytelling, where technology will evolve, but human-driven narratives will continue to anchor content.

Komatireddy invited global studios, OTT platforms, gaming companies, and investors to view Hyderabad as the gateway to India’s entertainment industry and India as the gateway to the world. He expressed confidence that Telangana will lead the next wave of creative transformation through collaboration and innovation.

He concluded by congratulating organisers and delegates for making Hyderabad a central platform for global creative discourse.
