Hyderabad: BRS members staged an Assembly walkout protesting the government’s handling of police welfare, RTC issues and BC concerns. The Assembly walkout followed sharp criticism from senior leader T. Harish Rao during the session.
Harish Rao accused the Congress government of neglecting the police department despite the Chief Minister holding the portfolio. Moreover, he alleged that the administration has failed to address key welfare issues.
He said police personnel work round the clock for society and the State. However, he claimed the government is subjecting them to hardships.
Assembly walkout triggered by police welfare and pending issues
Harish Rao said the previous BRS government prioritised police welfare and filled vacancies. In addition, he said it established new commissionerates to strengthen the system.
He alleged that the present government is neglecting welfare measures. Meanwhile, he pointed out that TA, DA and other dues remain pending.
He said seven TA bills, three surrender leaves and five DA payments are yet to be cleared. Furthermore, he criticised the government for limiting the police safety scheme to ₹1 lakh.
He said authorities have not carried out promotions in the department. In addition, he alleged that the government has not implemented EHS for police personnel.
Harish Rao said the government has not conducted recruitment since 2024. Consequently, candidates are waiting for notifications.
He questioned the reduction in the police budget compared to last year. Moreover, he said the government failed to give clear assurances in the House.
He also alleged that the government has not fulfilled promises made to RTC employees. Meanwhile, he raised concerns over unresolved issues affecting workers.
BRS members announced the Assembly walkout over pending police dues, lack of recruitment, and absence of clarity on BC sub-plan funds. They also cited delays in RTC employee regularisation and other welfare measures before exiting the House.
