HMWSSB warns against misuse of logo by private water tankers

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) flagged HMWSSB logo misuse by private water tanker operators and warned of strict legal action. The HMWSSB logo misuse has raised concerns over public safety and misinformation.

Officials said some private tanker operators are using the official logo without authorisation. As a result, people may assume these tankers provide government-supplied water.

The board said such actions are illegal and misleading. Moreover, misuse of the official logo damages public trust and amounts to fraud.

HMWSSB logo misuse raises safety and legal concerns

Officials clarified that private tankers typically supply borewell water. However, this water does not undergo purification or quality testing under HMWSSB standards.

Therefore, authorities warned that consuming such water may pose serious health risks. In addition, they urged citizens not to rely on unauthorised tanker services.

The board advised people to book drinking water only through official HMWSSB channels. Meanwhile, citizens can call the toll-free number 155313 to access safe and treated water.

Officials said enforcement teams have intensified inspections. Consequently, they recently seized a private tanker that illegally used the HMWSSB logo and registered a criminal case against the operator.

Managing Director Ashok Reddy directed officials to conduct regular inspections and prevent further misuse. Furthermore, he instructed teams to take strict action wherever violations occur.

The board also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant. If they notice misuse of the HMWSSB logo, they should report it to the nearest office or authorities.

Officials said public cooperation is crucial to curb such illegal practices. They added that the board will continue strict monitoring to prevent future violations.
