Health Minister visits injured excise constable at NIMS

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha visited NIMS on Monday morning to enquire about the health of Excise constable Soumya, who suffered serious injuries in an attack by ganja smugglers in Nizamabad district. Importantly, the incident involved an injured excise constable at NIMS, attracting significant attention from authorities.

During the visit, the Minister met Soumya and her family members. Meanwhile, NIMS Director Beerappa and senior doctors briefed him on her condition. According to them, Soumya’s health showed improvement compared to the previous day. However, they said her condition remained critical.

Describing the incident as extremely unfortunate, the Minister said the government stood firmly with the injured constable. When discussing support for Soumya, he highlighted that she is the injured excise constable at NIMS. He then consoled Soumya’s mother Chandrakala and brother Sravan. Further, he assured them that Soumya would recover fully and asked them to stay strong.

Minister assures best treatment, strict action against accused

Afterwards, Rajanarsimha said the government would ensure the best possible medical care until Soumya fully recovered. Therefore, he said a team of experienced senior doctors at NIMS was providing advanced treatment using modern facilities.

Later, speaking to the media, the Minister said the State government aimed to completely curb ganja and other narcotic substances. Accordingly, he said Excise, Police and other departments were working relentlessly towards this goal. To clarify, while much focus is on law enforcement, special attention is also given to the case of the injured excise constable at NIMS whose situation continues to draw public concern.

Referring to the Nizamabad incident, the Minister said attacks on government employees during duty were unacceptable. Consequently, he said the government would not tolerate such acts under any circumstances. He added that all those responsible would face strict punishment as per law.

Finally, the Minister said authorities had already registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused. He also reiterated that the government would extend all possible support to Soumya’s family and ensure justice in the case, particularly in light of the fact that Soumya is the injured excise constable at NIMS.
