Damodar Rajanarsimha orders heat stroke preparedness in hospitals

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha ordered heat stroke preparedness across government hospitals, directing officials to ensure immediate treatment for affected patients amid rising temperatures.

He reviewed arrangements with senior officials at the Rajiv Aarogyasri Trust office in Jubilee Hills. During the meeting, he assessed hospital readiness in view of severe summer conditions.

The Minister instructed officials to provide drinking water facilities in all hospitals. Moreover, he directed them to install fans, coolers and air-conditioners wherever required.

Rajanarsimha said hospitals must equip all wards and waiting areas with drinking water. In addition, he asked authorities to set up cooling facilities such as chalivendras within hospital premises.

He directed officials to ensure the proper functioning of fans, coolers and ACs. At the same time, he asked them to carry out repairs immediately wherever required.

Heat stroke preparedness measures include dedicated emergency teams

The Minister also stressed fire safety measures and instructed authorities to take preventive steps. Furthermore, he suggested seeking support from donors if necessary.

Rajanarsimha reviewed awareness efforts on heat stroke prevention. He directed officials to conduct campaigns in hospitals, bus stations and other crowded areas.

He said authorities should use social media to spread awareness. Meanwhile, he asked them to focus on vulnerable groups such as labourers, farmers and gig workers.

The Minister instructed hospitals to keep dedicated teams ready in emergency wards for heat stroke cases. He said trained staff should begin treatment immediately when patients arrive.

He also directed officials to ensure the availability of medicines, including ORS, at all facilities. In addition, he asked them to keep generators ready to handle power disruptions during extreme weather conditions.

Officials informed the Minister that necessary arrangements are already in place and hospitals are prepared to handle heat stroke cases.
