Hyderabad: Telangana heatwave conditions intensified as soaring temperatures turned several districts into virtual hotspots, with mercury levels likely to touch 47°C.
Weather expert said severe heatwave conditions were likely across many parts of the state on Thursday. Authorities issued a red alert for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla and Nizamabad districts.
Officials also sounded alerts for Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Mulugu, Warangal, Jangaon, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Khammam districts.
Temperatures in these regions may range between 44°C and 47°C. Experts warned that people could suffer heat stroke if they remained outdoors between 11 am and 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad may record temperatures above 43°C.

Weather experts predicted thunderstorms in Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Gadwal and Mahabubnagar districts.
Doctors warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat could trigger serious health complications within minutes.
They advised people not to ignore symptoms such as dizziness, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, rapid heartbeat, muscle pain and excessive sweating.
Medical experts said severe heat stroke could also affect the brain. Victims may experience confusion, slurred speech and disorientation.
Doctors warned that delayed treatment could damage vital organs, including the kidneys and heart.
Children, elderly persons and outdoor workers face higher risk during intense heatwave conditions. Patients suffering from heart disease and diabetes are also vulnerable.
Doctors advised people to move heat stroke victims to cool places immediately. They also suggested loosening clothes, wiping the body with wet cloth and placing ice packs around the neck and underarms.
Experts cautioned against self-medication and advised people not to use paracetamol tablets during heat stroke emergencies.
