Hyderabad: Former minister T. Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, alleging confusion in governance and failure to fulfil promises made to farmers, students and local bodies.
Speaking at a felicitation programme for BRS-backed sarpanches in Narsapur, Harish Rao said the state administration reflected “half measures and total chaos.” He claimed the ruling party, despite being in power, failed to secure a decisive mandate in the recent sarpanch elections.
Referring to the campaign, Harish Rao alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally canvassed across the state. However, he said only about 6,000 Congress-aligned sarpanches managed to win. He added that the Chief Minister constantly focused on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, even while governing.
Challenging the Congress government’s confidence, Harish Rao demanded the immediate conduct of MPTC and ZPTC elections. He asked party workers to note the names of officials harassing the public and assured that a BRS government would return within two years to address grievances lawfully.
Harish Rao flags farmer distress, power supply gaps
Turning to welfare schemes, Harish Rao alleged that the government failed to implement Rythu Bharosa and Rajiv Yuva Vikasam effectively. He claimed pending dues of ₹900 crore under Kalyana Lakshmi and ₹9,000 crore under fee reimbursement, which, he said, caused hardship to students.
Taking a swipe at the Chief Minister, Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy showed more interest in beauty contests and football than in public welfare.
On the power front, Harish Rao demanded a debate in the Assembly on electricity supply. He alleged that farmers received only 12 to 14 hours of power despite assurances of 24-hour supply.
Earlier in the day, Harish Rao visited Kagaz Maddur and Reddypally substations at farmers’ request. During the visit, he examined power supply records and questioned officials over irregular electricity supply.
Later, he felicitated BRS-backed sarpanches, deputy sarpanches and ward members from the constituency. Narsapur MLA Sunitha Laxmareddy, Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar, and several senior BRS leaders attended the programme.
