BJP slams Congress over MLAs’ party status confusion

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao criticised defected MLAs for what he described as “value-less politics” over their contradictory claims on party affiliation.

He said the MLAs publicly claimed allegiance to the Congress. However, before the Speaker, they stated that they still belonged to the BRS. He termed this approach politically dishonest.

Speaking to the media at the BJP state office on Wednesday, Ramchander Rao said BRS MLAs who wore Congress scarves in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had failed to clarify their party status. He said the confusion exposed the failure of the Congress government.

He alleged that the erosion of political values in Telangana began under the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. According to him, the Congress government was now following the same political path.

BJP targets Congress over defections and governance

Ramchander Rao said the Congress had earlier brought in the anti-defection law. However, he alleged that the same party was now violating it while in power.

He further claimed that the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen aligned itself with whichever party formed the government.

Referring to funding for local bodies, the BJP leader stated that Congress leaders were claiming that ₹3,000 crore would be allocated to gram panchayats. He asserted that the central government was providing these funds.
