Congress leaders from Serilingampally join BRS

Hyderabad: Several Congress leaders from the Serilingampally constituency joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at Telangana Bhavan, signalling fresh political realignments in Hyderabad.

During the programme, BRS working president K T Rama Rao welcomed Alwyn Colony division Congress leader Dosala Anil Reddy into the party by presenting him with the pink scarf. As a result, the BRS leadership projected confidence over growing support in the constituency.

Meanwhile, Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao cautioned Congress leaders to restrain their language. He also described KTR as a visionary leader who played a key role in Hyderabad’s development.

However, Krishna Rao criticised Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, stating that he failed to clearly declare his political allegiance. Further, he alleged that Gandhi avoided sitting with BRS MLAs in the Assembly.

Congress leaders join BRS amid sharp political exchanges

Recalling past electoral success, Krishna Rao said the BRS, under KTR’s leadership, won 99 seats in the previous GHMC elections. Moreover, he added that the party secured the mayor’s post on its own strength.

Additionally, he said a true leader protected party workers and stood by the people during difficult times. Therefore, Krishna Rao asserted that the BRS continued to attract leaders due to its governance record and organisational strength.

Meanwhile, party leaders said more joinings were expected in the coming days as dissatisfaction continued to grow within the Congress ranks in Hyderabad.
