Hyderabad: State Minister Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday visited Narsapur in Medak district. During the visit, he distributed ₹3.5 crore worth of interest-free loan cheques and Indiramma sarees to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under state welfare schemes.
The Minister said economic empowerment of women is a top priority for the Congress government. He added that interest-free loans play a key role in promoting financial self-reliance. He also gave cheques for interest reimbursements on previous loans.

Later, Vivek Venkatswamy chaired a preparatory meeting for the upcoming municipal elections. DCC President Anjaneyulu Goud and several Congress leaders attended. The Minister urged party workers to coordinate early and stay united. He said the election notification might be issued by the 25th or 26th of the month.
He called on leaders to avoid internal conflicts and support candidates with strong public approval, whom he described as “winning horses.” He expressed full confidence in a Congress victory in Narsapur.
The Minister also pushed for SHG expansion. He directed the District Collector to explore setting up petrol pumps for SHGs as a steady income source. These initiatives, he said, would enhance both economic security and local employment.
Announcing the Indiramma saree distribution for all women in Narsapur Municipality, he said the move honours the legacy of Indira Gandhi. He reiterated that women’s welfare is central to Congress policy.
On political issues, Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the BRS government left unpaid bills worth ₹40,000 crore. He criticised BRS leader Sunita Reddy for ignoring this fact. He accused the previous regime of offering only “paper promises” instead of real development.
In contrast, he said the Congress government is prioritising transparent governance and mobilising funds for visible progress.
