Fuel shortage panic spreads in Hyderabad as pumps run dry

Hyderabad: Fuel shortage panic spread across Hyderabad and nearby districts after several petrol pumps displayed “No Stock” boards, leading to long queues and heavy rush at functioning outlets.

Motorists struggled to access diesel at multiple stations. Crowds quickly gathered wherever fuel remained available. In many locations, vehicle owners waited for extended periods, while others moved between pumps in search of supply.

Officials denied any systemic fuel shortage panic across the state. Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra stated that petrol and diesel stocks were sufficient to meet demand. He said temporary disruptions at select outlets had triggered confusion among consumers.

He added that some petrol pumps had shut due to operational reasons and would reopen after resolving those issues. Further, he urged the public not to panic or resort to excess purchasing.

Fuel shortage panic intensifies in Medchal and Shamirpet areas

Conditions in Medchal and Shamirpet mandals showed continued strain. Several fuel stations displayed “No Stock” boards, particularly for diesel. Consequently, transport vehicles lined up for hours, waiting for refuelling.

Truck drivers reported travelling to distant areas to procure diesel, increasing delays in logistics operations. Meanwhile, officials said rising demand had added pressure on supply chains. They noted that shortages in neighbouring states pushed more vehicles into nearby districts, raising consumption levels.

Queues remained visible at operational pumps, while supply struggled to match sudden demand spikes. Transport sector activity continued to face disruption due to uncertain availability of diesel.
