Hyderabad: The Telangana government will conduct a Varuna Yagam at Nagarjunasagar on August 10 to seek abundant rainfall, healthy river flows and the replenishment of reservoirs and tanks across the State.
The special Vedic ritual will take place under the supervision of Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. Moreover, the government decided to organise the Varuna Yagam following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s call to offer prayers for widespread rainfall and farmers’ prosperity.
The programme will be held at the Vijaya Vihar premises on the banks of the Nagarjunasagar reservoir. Further, priests and Vedic scholars from Yadagirigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, in consultation with the temple Siddhanti, selected August 10 as the auspicious date.
Varuna Yagam to seek prosperity for farmers
The Endowments department will organise the rituals. Meanwhile, priests and Vedic scholars from Yadagirigutta will perform special prayers for abundant rainfall, healthy flows in the Krishna and Godavari rivers and the filling of reservoirs, tanks and other water bodies.
In addition, the rituals will include prayers for a successful agricultural season, good harvests and the welfare of farmers across Telangana.
The day-long programme will conclude with a Maha Purnahuti in the evening. Finally, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will attend the concluding ceremony.
