Hyderabad: Telangana Governor and UoH Chief Rector Shiv Pratap Shukla asked students to embrace AI and human values together. He also urged them to pair academic success with a sense of duty and service.
The Governor spoke at the 26th Convocation of the University of Hyderabad on Thursday. The event was held at the Global Peace Auditorium in Hyderabad. Shukla said a degree should not mark the end of learning. He urged students to keep learning throughout life and stay open to new ideas.
He asked them to use artificial intelligence and new technology. However, he said they should also hold on to wisdom, care and empathy. He said AI and human values should go together as students moved into work, research or higher study.
AI and human values guide UoH graduates
Shukla asked young people to look beyond only finding jobs. He urged them to become creators, researchers and entrepreneurs with fresh ideas. He said the youth had a key role in building a developed India by 2047. He linked that goal with new ideas, research and enterprise.
The Governor said real success went beyond personal gain. He said success had greater worth when it helped society, mainly people from weaker sections. He also asked students to remember the hard work and support of their parents and teachers.
“Be successful, but never lose your humility. Dream big, but always remain connected to your roots. Embrace technology, but never give up human values,” Shukla told the students. He said the message on AI and human values should shape how graduates used their skills in the years ahead.
The Governor also asked students to stay away from drugs and lead healthy lives. He urged them to take part in the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign. Shukla said academic success should come with social duty. He asked students to use their learning to help others.
He also stressed humility, gratitude and service. At the same time, he urged students to stay close to their roots while aiming high. The Governor said lifelong learning would help young people face fast changes in technology and society. He asked them to keep learning new skills after graduation.
He said students could grow as innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs while also helping the wider public. He again stressed the need to combine AI and human values. Shukla said education carried a duty beyond personal success. He urged graduates to use their skills and ideas for society, especially for people in need.
