Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said no patient should wait for treatment because blood was not available. Therefore, he urged healthy people to make voluntary blood donation a regular habit.
He opened a mega blood donation camp at Dr MCR TIMS in Sanathnagar. Meanwhile, Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav joined him. The event marked National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
Rajanarsimha thanked the donors at the camp. He said blood was vital for people hurt in accidents. Mothers facing delivery emergencies also needed it. So did children with thalassemia and cancer patients. Further, patients who needed surgery also depended on blood stocks.
He asked youth and colleges to hold blood donation camps often. Similarly, he made the same appeal to industries, NGOs and other groups. He said regular donations could spare families trouble during urgent medical care.
Voluntary blood donation can prevent delays
Rajanarsimha asked more young people to donate blood. He said this would make blood easier to find when patients needed it. He also asked officials to run more public awareness drives. In addition, he told them to hold more blood donation camps.
The minister called blood donation a humane act that could save a life. He thanked every person who donated blood at the camp. He praised the Telangana Pharmacy Council and AIDS Control Society. He also praised the Dr MCR TIMS team. Together, they had organised the mega camp.
Rajanarsimha said families should not struggle to arrange blood during urgent care. He said healthy donors could help stop such delays. Finally, the minister asked groups to keep donation drives active. He said wider awareness and regular blood donation could help patients get blood in time.
