Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a workshop on SWM Rules 2026, Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Rules and the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at its head office on June 23 under the chairmanship of the Additional Commissioner (Sanitation).
The workshop reviewed the progress of the 99-Day Action Plan across different circles and discussed measures to improve waste management and environmental compliance within GHMC limits. Deputy Executive Engineers (SWM), Project Manager (SBM), DE SWM officials, NCAP representatives, EPTRI officials and representatives from Ramky, C&D, Mclean and IXora participated in the meeting.
Officials assessed the status of Swachh Bharat Mission works and stressed the need for timely completion of pending projects. They also reviewed the disposal of grievances received through online platforms and WhatsApp and discussed steps to improve attendance through the Facial Recognition System (FRS).
SWM Rules 2026 implementation tops workshop agenda
The workshop focused on strengthening mechanisms for e-waste and bulky waste collection while ensuring proper registration of Bulk Garbage Generators. Officials also highlighted the importance of increasing participation from Resident Welfare Associations in sanitation and waste management initiatives.
Discussions further covered preparations for Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan and measures aimed at improving air quality across the city. Participants examined strategies to enhance environmental performance and compliance under NCAP guidelines.
The Additional Commissioner directed field officials to strengthen garbage collection systems, ensure scientific disposal of waste and improve adherence to environmental regulations. GHMC officials said these measures would help achieve cleaner surroundings and support sustainable urban development across Hyderabad.
