Food Safety inspection finds major hygiene lapses at Wow! Momo outlet

Hyderabad: A Food Safety inspection at the Wow! Momo outlet in GSM Mall, Madinaguda, found several hygiene and food safety violations, prompting officials to issue an Improvement Notice to the Food Business Operator.

Food Safety Officers from the Commissioner of Food Safety conducted the inspection on Tuesday to assess compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The outlet secured a FoSCoS score of 78 out of 116, or 68 per cent.

Inspectors found that food handlers maintained personal hygiene during the visit. They also noted that the FSSAI licence was prominently displayed at the premises.

During the Food Safety inspection, officials observed a cockroach infestation inside the premises. They also found that records relating to water testing, food testing, packaging testing and medical fitness were unavailable.

The inspection revealed that no hot water facility was available in the dishwashing area. In addition, officials identified expired sauces and paneer, which were immediately discarded.

Inspectors also discarded spoiled vegetables and leafy vegetables found at the outlet. They further directed the management to clean onion storage crates properly and improve housekeeping standards.

The inspection found that deep cleaning of the flooring was inadequate. Consequently, officials instructed the establishment to strengthen its sanitation and hygiene practices.

The Food Safety Department issued an Improvement Notice directing the Food Business Operator to rectify the deficiencies and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
