CV Anand assumes charge as Telangana DGP

Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer CV Anand assumed charge as the new Director General of Police of Telangana on Friday.

CV Anand arrived at the DGP office in Hyderabad in the morning, where senior police officials welcomed him. He later received a guard of honour from police personnel at the office premises.

After the formal ceremony, CV Anand officially took charge as Telangana DGP at the scheduled time.

A 1991-batch IPS officer, CV Anand served in several key positions during his policing career. He worked as ASP and SP in the undivided Warangal, Adilabad, and Nizamabad districts.

CV Anand known for technology-driven policing

During his career, CV Anand also handled responsibilities in Maoist-affected regions and managed law and order in sensitive areas.

Later, he served as Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Cyberabad Commissioner, Traffic Commissioner, and Special Chief Secretary in the Home Department.

CV Anand earned recognition for introducing technology-driven reforms in the police department. In the traffic wing, he introduced systems such as e-challan enforcement and speed guns to improve transparency and road safety.

He also implemented measures like reversible lanes and free-left systems to reduce traffic congestion and improve vehicle movement in Hyderabad.

Officials and police personnel are now closely watching the policing approach CV Anand will implement as the full-time Telangana DGP.
