Hyderabad: Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police arrested seven bank officials in a major cyber fraud crackdown targeting insider support to financial fraud networks.
Police said the accused included managers and field officers from Indian Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Bandhan Bank, IndusInd Bank, and other financial institutions.
Investigators alleged that the officials bypassed KYC norms and opened mule accounts for cyber fraudsters.
Police said the accused accepted commissions for facilitating fraudulent accounts. Officials also alleged that they ignored suspicious high-value transactions.
Cyber fraud crackdown targets mule account networks
Cyber Crime Police registered five separate cases in connection with the racket. Later, officers carried out arrests under Operation Crackdown.
Investigators said mule accounts helped fraudsters route and conceal money generated through cybercrime activities.
Police stated that strict action would continue against individuals who misuse official positions to support financial fraud networks.
The department also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against insider involvement in cyber offences.
Officials said protecting public financial security remains a top priority for the department.
