CP Sajjanar praises woman constable who cleared traffic with infant

Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar praised an Andhra Pradesh woman constable who cleared traffic while carrying her infant, calling the act a salute to duty and motherhood.

On Sunday, Sajjanar shared a video of the incident on X. In the post, he expressed admiration for the constable’s presence of mind. Although she was not on duty and had her infant with her, she stepped in to clear traffic for an ambulance stuck in a jam. Therefore, he described the gesture as a strong example of social responsibility.

Moreover, Sajjanar lauded Rangampeta woman constable Amudala Jayashanti for her timely action on the Kakinada–Samarlakota road. He said her conduct reflected dedication to duty and compassion. In addition, he said the act showed how responsibility went beyond uniformed duty.

A woman constable’s gesture draws widespread appreciation

The incident occurred on Saturday night when Jayashanti was returning home after completing her duty. Meanwhile, heavy traffic built up on the Samarlakota flyover in Kakinada district. As a result, vehicles remained stuck for a long time.

However, after noticing an ambulance trapped in the traffic, the woman constable moved into action. Holding her infant, she cleared the traffic and created a passage for the ambulance. Subsequently, a video of the incident surfaced on social media and went viral.

Soon after, netizens praised her calm response and selfless act. Many users said her action was inspiring, as she placed public duty above personal comfort. Therefore, officials said the incident highlighted the commitment shown by police personnel even beyond official duty hours.
