Ramchander Rao accuses Congress of forcibly taking Koheda farmers’ land

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday alleged that the Congress government forcibly acquired Koheda farmers land for the proposed International Integrated Fruit Market and demanded that compensation be paid before any further work is undertaken.

Addressing the media at the BJP state office, Ramchander Rao claimed that the state government proceeded with the project despite opposition from local farmers. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the market without ensuring compensation for those whose lands were acquired.

The BJP leader further alleged that several protesting farmers from the Koheda area were taken into police custody during the Chief Minister’s visit. According to him, the farmers were released only after the Chief Minister left the area.

Demanding immediate action, Ramchander Rao said the government should first settle compensation claims of affected landowners and only then move ahead with construction activities related to the fruit market project.

Koheda farmers land issue fuels political confrontation

Launching a broader attack on the Congress government, the BJP leader alleged that the administration lacked concern for farmers and was acting against their interests. He also accused the government of forcibly acquiring land without providing due compensation.

Ramchander Rao took exception to recent remarks made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar. He alleged that the Congress government had failed to procure grain from farmers on time and described the administration as corrupt.

The BJP state president warned that party workers would strongly oppose Congress leaders if the government continued to ignore public concerns and failed to fulfil its promises to the people.

Highlighting the Centre’s contribution to Telangana, Ramchander Rao said the Union government had extended financial and development support worth nearly ₹13 lakh crore over the past 12 years. He also noted that the Centre recently approved ₹7,597 crore for the expansion of two major National Highways involving around 190 kilometres of four-lane roads.

He added that the Union government was working to improve road connectivity to Armoor, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar, with the broader objective of linking all 32 districts of Telangana through the National Highway network.
