Hyderabad: BRS working president and former Telangana chief minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) today accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of lacking basic knowledge and misleading farmers for the past 18 months. Addressing reporters at the Somajiguda Press Club, KTR said Revanth had broken every election promise and was avoiding meaningful debate.
He challenged Revanth to a public discussion, claiming the CM refused, though KTR agreed despite anticipating the refusal. “Even if you’re not CM, at least come as a minister,” he said, urging dialogue on the exodus of Telangana funds to Delhi and alleged disrespect toward farmers.
When asked about the CM’s trip to Delhi, KTR quipped it was for fertiliser, not “kudittina bastalu.” He accused Revanth of misinforming the public on Rythu Bandhu payments and revealed prepared lists of farmers not receiving support in Kodangal, along with a dossier of farmer deaths mirroring past Emergency conditions.
KTR reiterated the challenge, offering to meet Revanth anywhere even at his residence. “Date and place are yours,” he said, dismissing suggestions that BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao must mediate. He demanded Congress leaders show honesty and join the debate or apologize, saying Revanth should kneel and seek forgiveness from KCR.
He warned Revanth not to issue further challenges if he couldn’t follow through, alleging the CM travels to Delhi not for fertiliser but to secure his position. Mocking Revanth’s protests as mere noise, KTR claimed he lacked basic geographical awareness of Telangana’s river basins and accused him of draining water and funds toward Andhra and Delhi to serve former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, while appointments were made for Revanth’s “babies.”
KTR said Revanth might dodge accountability now, but “people won’t forgive.” He accused the CM of habitually retracting statements and failing to fulfill promises recalling Revanth’s 2018 Kodangal pledge to quit politics if he lost, which he didn’t honour.
