BRS demands dedicated commission for Telangana movement participants

Hyderabad: BRS leaders demanded a dedicated commission to identify and recognise participants of the Telangana movement, opposing the state government’s proposal to constitute a committee for the process.

MLC Dasoju Sravan and former MLC Karne Prabhakar raised the demand at an all-party meeting chaired by K. Keshava Rao in the Secretariat.

The leaders warned the government against delaying manifesto promises through what they described as temporary measures and government orders.

They said the recognition process must remain transparent and credible.

Dedicated commission needed for recognition process, says BRS

Addressing a joint media conference at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS leaders called for a dedicated commission instead of a committee.

They said the government should officially recognise movement participants as “Telangana Freedom Fighters”.

The leaders also demanded a special office for activists at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial.

Dasoju Sravan and Karne Prabhakar alleged that security personnel subjected them to repeated checks while entering the Secretariat.

They questioned how ordinary activists could access government offices if public representatives faced similar treatment.

The BRS leaders cited the case of KU activist Yakob Reddy. They demanded compensation for those who allegedly faced police excesses during the Telangana movement.

They also urged the government to withdraw pending cases against movement participants.

The leaders reiterated that the party would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of activists and martyrs’ families.
