Hyderabad: A BRS delegation on Tuesday met Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy at BRK Bhavan and submitted a representation expressing concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The delegation included MLC Dasoju Sravan and party leaders Karne Prabhakar, Ravula Chandrashekhar Reddy, Soma Bharat Kumar and Kishore Goud. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, they said they met the CEO on the directions of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and working president K. T. Rama Rao.
The leaders said the exercise should strengthen the electoral system and ensure that every eligible citizen has only one valid vote. They stressed the importance of maintaining accurate voter lists and preventing enrolment of the same voter in multiple locations.
BRS delegation SIR representation seeks removal of duplicate votes
The delegation urged election authorities to identify and remove duplicate voter entries during the revision process. According to the leaders, such measures are necessary to protect the integrity of elections and ensure transparency in voter registration.
They also alleged that bogus voting had taken place during the Jubilee Hills byelection and called for corrective steps to prevent similar issues in future elections. The leaders said authorities should thoroughly verify voter records and take action wherever irregularities are detected.
The BRS delegation maintained that a clean and accurate electoral roll would uphold the principle of “one citizen, one vote” and strengthen public confidence in the democratic process.
