Balanagar Police bust generator theft gang, recover ₹3.5 lakh vehicle

Hyderabad: Balanagar Police arrested two members of a generator theft gang and recovered a stolen generator-mounted DCM vehicle valued at ₹3.5 lakh. The operation was launched following a complaint filed on January 21.

According to police, the theft occurred near Prahlad Saw Mill, IDPL Huts, where complainant Yousuf Baba had parked his vehicle. A technical investigation combined with eyewitness accounts led to the arrest of Mohammed Khadeer and Mohammed Tajuddin, both residents of Bidar district in Karnataka.

Accused used unattended keys and diesel to flee

Police said the Generator theft gang had conducted a recce of the site, noticed that the keys were left in the cabin, and used available diesel to start the vehicle. They then drove the DCM along the Mumbai Highway into Karnataka.

Two other suspects Digya alias Dilwale and Faqruddin alias Gore are absconding. All four are habitual offenders and have been linked to a similar theft case.

The investigation was led under the supervision of DCP Ritiraj, ACP P. Naresh Reddy, and Inspector T. Narsimha Raju. Officials said the police team involved in the recovery would receive commendation for their work.
