AnTeRa scores 83% in CMC food safety audit

Hyderabad: AnTeRa food safety audit conducted by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) teams in Madeenaguda recorded a hygiene score of 83 per cent and identified several shortcomings related to food storage, documentation and hygiene practices.

The inspection formed part of the civic body’s ongoing food safety monitoring programme across Cyberabad. Officials, however, observed several positive practices during the visit. Food handlers wore hairnets, gloves and aprons while handling food. The restaurant also maintained records of regular pest control activities.

Inspectors verified that the establishment displayed its FSSAI licence prominently. They also found a hot water facility for cleaning and sanitising utensils.

Meanwhile, officials found that the restaurant did not maintain medical fitness records of food handlers. The management also failed to produce water testing reports for water used in cooking and ice preparation.

The inspection team observed that desserts, mushrooms, chopped onions and non-vegetarian food items lacked proper labels. Officials also noted the use of iron knives in food preparation sections.

Further, inspectors detected mould growth on stored cauliflower and potatoes. They also found cooking oil used for French fries unsuitable for continued use. Open dustbins placed near operational areas added to hygiene concerns.

Officials immediately discarded the mould-affected vegetables and unusable cooking oil. They instructed the management to strengthen food labelling practices and improve storage systems. The team also directed the establishment to maintain all mandatory records and reinforce hygiene protocols.

Based on the findings, CMC officials decided to issue an Improvement Notice. The restaurant secured 87 marks out of a total score of 106, resulting in a hygiene rating of 83 per cent.

According to CMC guidelines, establishments scoring between 50 and 90 per cent receive an Improvement Notice. The civic body said it will continue inspections across restaurants, kitchens and food establishments to improve hygiene standards and protect public health across Cyberabad.
