Hyderabad: A wife shot dead case came to light in Maruti Nagar under the Malkajgiri police station limits after a man allegedly opened fire on his spouse amid a prolonged domestic dispute.
Police identified the deceased as Nisha Rani.
Investigators said her husband, Arun Kumar, was involved in the attack.
According to police, the couple had been facing marital issues for some time.
Arun Kumar allegedly arrived at the house with another person during the early hours of Tuesday.
He reportedly called Nisha Rani for a discussion before opening fire.
Wife shot dead after prolonged marital dispute
The victim suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, local residents heard gunshots and immediately alerted the police.
Officers rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for postmortem examination.
Subsequently, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Investigators said Arun Kumar had divorced his first wife before marrying her sister in a love marriage.
Police also revealed that officers had caught Arun Kumar with a firearm during vehicle checks in Amberpet three months ago.
After authorities seized that weapon, he allegedly procured another firearm through contacts in the Old City.
Police are investigating the source of the weapon and the circumstances that led to the killing.
