Hyderabad: A Nampally court sentenced Mude Raju Naik, 37, to life imprisonment in a murder case investigated by SR Nagar Police. The court also imposed fines totalling ₹16,000 after finding him guilty of murder and other offences.
IV Additional Sessions Judge J. Vikram pronounced the judgment on Thursday. The court convicted Raju Naik under Sections 302, 379 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code. Naik, a private employee, hailed from SV Nagar in Tirupati.
According to the prosecution, P. Ramesh, 50, lived at Vikaspuri Colony near AG Colony. He left his house at around 6.30 pm on February 1, 2020, saying he was going to Borabanda. However, he did not return home.
At around 8.30 pm, Ramesh’s friend Sai contacted him by phone. Ramesh told Sai that he was at a friend’s house. The following morning, Ramesh’s sister-in-law received a WhatsApp message from his phone. Subsequently, the family made calls to the number, but nobody answered them. Later, the phone was switched off.
Hyderabad murder conviction followed police investigation
Police searched for Ramesh and conducted a detailed investigation. Subsequently, SR Nagar Police registered the murder case and continued the probe. Inspector S. Murali Krishna of SR Nagar Police Station initially investigated the case. Later, Inspector V. Narsimha Reddy filed the charge sheet.
Additional Public Prosecutor Srivani represented the prosecution. Meanwhile, advocate Asif Ali appeared for the defence. The Hyderabad murder conviction followed the prosecution of the case before the IV Additional Sessions Judge Court at Nampally.
Police constables Manpati Balaram and B. Krupendra were among the court duty and process staff who assisted with the proceedings. Following the judgment, police authorities appreciated the investigation team, prosecution and court staff for their efforts in securing the conviction.
