Hyderabad: Energy and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy said the Telangana government had begun strengthening residential school infrastructure in phases. The initiative aimed to improve education, nutrition and essential facilities for students across the state.
Vivek made the announcement after interacting with students at the Social Welfare Residential School for Girls in Mandamarri on Tuesday. During the visit, he praised the students for their discipline, commitment to academics and ambitious career goals.
He said the government had placed special emphasis on strengthening Gurukuls, or residential schools, across Telangana. Accordingly, officials were upgrading facilities required for the students’ education and future development in a phased manner.
Residential school infrastructure gets phased attention
Vivek said improved residential school infrastructure formed part of the government’s wider effort to support students. Besides academics, the government had focused on nutrition, health and overall well-being at residential institutions.
As part of those measures, the government had increased mess charges by 40%. The increase was intended to ensure that students received nutritious meals at residential schools.
Meanwhile, the state government was recruiting 10,000 teachers to improve academic standards. Vivek said educators played a crucial role in developing confidence among students from rural and remote areas.
Teachers also helped such students set higher goals and work towards greater achievements, he said. Therefore, strengthening teaching resources remained an important part of improving the residential education system.
The minister further said the government would extend comprehensive support to students in several areas. These included academics, sports, cultural activities and residential facilities.
He reiterated that facilities would be strengthened progressively to meet students’ needs. The government’s measures, he said, were aimed at providing students with better opportunities for academic and personal development.
