Hyderabad: TRS founder president Kavitha raised several Vemulawada public issues at a media conference in Vemulawada town. She spoke about the Rajanna temple, roads, drainage, irrigation, farmers, electricity and stalled development works in the constituency.
Kavitha said she had prayed to Rajanna for the welfare of Telangana and the TRS party. She also discussed concerns affecting Vemulawada and the wider Siricilla region.
She said the Vemulawada Rajanna temple had a long history. According to Kavitha, the BRS and Congress were competing over the allocation of Rs.200 crore for the temple. However, she said the temple should be developed regardless of which party provided the funds.
Kavitha sought the use of Krishna stone instead of concrete in temple construction. She also alleged that the state government and Minister Bandi Sanjay had failed to respond to the deaths of goats at the Rajanna temple.
Vemulawada public issues include roads, markets and drainage
Roads, the market and drainage remained major concerns in Vemulawada, Kavitha said. She alleged that several works had stopped at different locations. Farmers were also facing difficulties because of inadequate market facilities.
Dust had become a serious problem in Vemulawada town, according to Kavitha. She urged the authorities to focus on drainage works. Additionally, she called for an underground drainage system in the town.
Kavitha demanded that government whip Adi Srinivas bring funds for the rejuvenation of Rajanna Cheruvu. She said former minister K.T. Rama Rao had developed Siricilla when he held the ministerial portfolio.
She asked Adi Srinivas to focus on problems in the constituency. The TRS leader also advised him not to trouble people for the sake of demonstrating political authority.
Kavitha recalled that her parents had married in Vemulawada. She said her family had a longstanding association with the region.
Kaleshwaram water supply remains a concern for farmers
Kavitha alleged that Vemulawada and Siricilla had not received even a drop of water from the Kaleshwaram project. She demanded completion of project works mentioned by former minister Harish Rao during the previous government.
She also questioned the status of an earlier promise to build a reservoir at Rudrangi. The proposed reservoir was to cost Rs.200 crore and have a capacity of 2.5 TMC, she said.
According to Kavitha, the Kaleshwaram project was not benefiting farmers in the region. She urged Bandi Sanjay and Adi Srinivas to use their influence to secure water for tanks in Rudrangi, Dhoompeta and other areas.
Uninterrupted power supply for farmers was another demand raised by Kavitha. She said she did not know whether the Congress government was purchasing electricity or seeking it through other means. However, she insisted that farmers must receive power.
Kavitha raises education, railway and CESS concerns
Kavitha said the TRS would continue its campaign over public problems. She criticised the government over the lack of financial support for Siricilla.
People had expected the Chief Minister to announce a major package for the area, she said. However, Kavitha claimed that no funds had been allocated.
She also said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had not made any major development announcement during his visit to the region. Kavitha recalled an earlier promise that winning Siricilla would lead to a ministerial position.
The TRS leader criticised Revanth Reddy, alleging that he knew how to engage in politics but not how to undertake development. She also raised the issue of the railway line.
Railway work had stopped at several locations, Kavitha said. She promised that the TRS would fight for its completion.
Gulf workers were also facing injustice, according to Kavitha. She claimed that members were leaving the Gulf Advisory Committee.
Students at Siricilla JNTU were facing another problem, she said. Kavitha claimed they had to travel to Jagitial for laboratory facilities. She also said students at the medical college were facing difficulties.
She urged MLA K.T. Rama Rao, Adi Srinivas and Bandi Sanjay to respond to the students’ problems. Kavitha asked them to ensure justice for the affected students.
CESS and Nerella victims remain among the concerns
Kavitha also spoke about the Siricilla Cooperative Electric Supply Society, or CESS. She said the organisation had a distinct history in the country.
After its merger with NPDCL, there was no one to respond even when electricity poles were damaged, she alleged. Kavitha also alleged that corruption had occurred earlier in CESS.
A fire had destroyed important files, according to her claim. She further alleged that files related to the victims of Nerella were also destroyed.
Kavitha demanded justice for the Nerella victims during the Chief Minister’s Siricilla meeting. She said the TRS would support the victims until they received justice.
Kavitha targets Congress over political and media issues
Kavitha criticised differences between the statements of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and state Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud. She said Revanth Reddy had claimed he would remain Chief Minister for ten years.
At the same time, Kavitha said other Congress leaders were speaking about making a BC leader the Chief Minister. Referring to the difference, she sarcastically said “divorce has happened” between Revanth Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud.
She also alleged that journalists were facing difficulties under Congress rule. In particular, Kavitha raised concerns over accreditation for Muslim journalists.
The TRS leader then called on former Maoists to join the party. She said the party would welcome them and announced plans for a special committee for former Maoists.
Kavitha demanded action against alleged exploitation by private educational institutions. She called for stronger government schools and said the TRS would fight against corporate educational institutions.
She said the TRS would seek regulatory control over private education after returning to power. For now, she said the party would continue its campaign on public issues.
Kavitha also said the party would fight for problems affecting submerged villages. She made it clear that the TRS campaign would continue until the government addressed the Vemulawada public issues and concerns in the Siricilla region.
