Hyderabad: The Eagle Force has stepped up action against the illegal manufacture and transport of synthetic drugs and chemicals in Telangana. The force has increased surveillance on chemicals and equipment used in drug production.
The force has also focused on reactor leasing by pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It decided to take strict action against firms that rent out reactors for drug manufacturing.
Authorities will cancel the licences of firms if they find drug manufacturers using their reactors. They will also pursue legal action against the concerned companies.
So far, the Eagle Force has conducted surprise inspections at more than 80 industries across Telangana. During these checks, officials examined chemical stocks and their use.
Officials also intercepted propofol that was headed to Taiwan under the description of AC compressor oil. Separately, authorities found discrepancies in stocks involving more than 200 kg of acetic anhydride.
Synthetic drugs in Telangana prompt tighter chemical monitoring
The Eagle Force decided to track chemicals used in drug production from industrial storage through their use. The move aims to stop companies from illegally diverting such chemicals.
In addition, the force is examining possible secret drug production at poultry farms, abandoned houses and isolated locations. Officials are also tracing the sources of banned cigarette sales and examining their supply networks.
The force has increased surveillance on routes that traffickers may use to move drugs. Officials are checking whether companies such as V-Trans, VRL, Rapido and Porter are helping traffickers move drugs.
Officials directed courier companies to record invoices and e-way bills for parcels. They also asked them to maintain complete details of senders and recipients.
The companies must also record the identity document details of both parties. Authorities warned that company owners would face criminal cases if their services helped traffickers move drugs.
Eagle Force expands checks on drug transport networks
The Eagle Force said it would coordinate with all government departments to control drugs in Telangana. Officials said the force aims to stop the manufacture, supply and transport of drugs across the State.
Eagle Force official Sandeep Shandilya said a drug-free Telangana remained the target. The force’s latest measures cover industrial inspections, chemical monitoring and transport checks.
