Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, unveiled the new edition of Wings of Fire, the autobiography of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad. The ceremony, held on DDrKalam’s birth anniversary, celebrated his remarkable life and achievements.
Ceremony celebrates Dr Dram’s vision and legacy
The event featured several distinguished guests, including Dr Somaraju, Founder of CARE Hospitals; Prof. Sandeep Shukla, Director of IIIT Hyderabad; Prof. Arun Tiwari, co-author of Wings of Fire; Prof. Ramesh Loganathan; and Dr Drishna Yedula. Faculty members, students, and staff also attended the gathering.
During his speech, Sajjanar described Dr Dram as India’s “Missile Man” and “People’s President.” He noted that Dr KDrm’s journey from Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan reflected unmatched dedication and vision. Moreover, he said the former President’s work in space and defence continues to inspire the nation’s youth.
Sajjanar highlights teamwork and new inspiration
Reflecting his service during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sajjanar said the city overcame its toughest challenges through teamwork and unity. He praised the efforts of citizens, technology companies, and police personnel who worked tirelessly during the crisis.
In addition, Sajjanar announced an upcoming book titled The Extra Mile by Prof. Arun Tiwari and Dr Krishna Yedula, which captures inspiring human stories from the pandemic. He encouraged students to read Wings of Fire, calling it a timeless guide for self-belief and innovation. “It is one of my favourite books,” he added, noting that DDrKalam’s story continues to motivate young Indians.
‘No dream is too distant’
Sajjanar ended his speech with a message of hope and action. “No dream is too distant, no challenge too big when vision meets action,” he said. The event concluded with a heartfelt tribute to Dr Dram, reaffirming his legacy as a symbol of progress, optimism, and inspiration for generations.
