Hyderabad: Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari led a Telangana government delegation that visited the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan on Friday to study international sports facilities and management practices. The delegation observed competitions and athlete performances during the second day of its tour.
The team visited various sporting venues and examined how organisers conducted international-level competitions. It also observed facilities available to athletes and aspects of event management. The visit provided the delegation with an opportunity to study practices that could inform sports development in Telangana.
The delegation included Government Representative A.P. Jitender Reddy, former Sports Authority chairman Shivasena Reddy and Sports Authority Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Soni Baladevi.
Meanwhile, the delegation congratulated the Indian team after it secured a bronze medal in Sepak Takraw. Srihari, Jitender Reddy and Telangana Sepak Takraw Association president Perika Suresh congratulated the players and praised their hard work and determination.
The Telangana team expressed happiness over India’s medal-winning performance at the continental event. It said the achievement could encourage more young people to take up sports.

Srihari said the Telangana government was taking steps to strengthen the sports sector in the State. He said the government would work to improve training facilities and encourage talented athletes to compete successfully at international events.
In addition, the Minister said the visit allowed the delegation to directly observe international competitions, athlete performances and sports management practices. He said the experience would provide useful inputs for further development of Telangana’s sports ecosystem.
The Telangana government’s Sports and Youth Services Department identifies sports infrastructure, training and talent development among its responsibilities. The Sports Authority of Telangana also works on coaching camps, tournaments and talent scouting programmes.
The delegation continued its visit to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games venues in Japan on Friday as it studied international sporting facilities and competition management.
