Hyderabad infrastructure works worth ₹52,000 crore underway, says Bhatti

Hyderabad: Hyderabad infrastructure works worth ₹52,000 crore are currently underway under the Praja Palana government, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday. He said the projects aimed to address the city’s expanding needs and future infrastructure requirements.

Speaking at the launch of the TSRTC-Metro Rail Common Pass at Praja Bhavan, Bhatti said the government was implementing a comprehensive plan to strengthen Hyderabad’s civic infrastructure. He said the plan took into account the city’s rapid expansion and rising population.

The Deputy Chief Minister said major projects covered roads, flyovers, bridges, underpasses and drinking water facilities. He said the government had a responsibility to strengthen civic infrastructure before the growing population created additional demand.

According to Bhatti, the government had taken up infrastructure projects worth ₹35,000 crore within HMDA limits. These works included roads, flyovers and bridges. In addition, GHMC, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and other agencies were executing several projects.

As a result, the combined value of ongoing Hyderabad infrastructure works had reached ₹52,000 crore, he said. The figure included underpasses, flyovers and other development projects being implemented across the city.

Hyderabad infrastructure works target roads, bridges and water supply

Bhatti said the government was concentrating on project execution rather than publicity. He said the administration wanted to demonstrate the results of its work to the people.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister referred to the role of earlier Congress governments in Hyderabad’s development. He said those governments had brought Krishna, Godavari and Manjeera water to the city to meet its drinking water needs.

However, Bhatti alleged that the government that ruled Telangana for 10 years after state formation had not brought any additional drinking water to Hyderabad. He made the allegation while discussing the city’s infrastructure and water requirements.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government was continuing to expand civic facilities in line with Hyderabad’s growth. The ongoing projects cover multiple infrastructure sectors, including roads, bridges, flyovers, underpasses and drinking water.
