Hyderabad: The Urea app introduced by the Telangana government has emerged as a major support system for farmers by making the fertiliser supply mechanism more transparent and efficient.
The government designed the Urea app to curb black marketing and middlemen interference that earlier plagued urea distribution. By implementing a district unit–based booking system, officials now regulate supply based on local demand and ensure fair allocation to every farmer.
Under the new system, farmers can book urea strictly as per crop-wise requirement. As a result, fertiliser is reaching genuine farmers, while excess diversion and misuse have reduced significantly.
The government said the Urea app was not just a technological upgrade but a reform-driven initiative aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
Urea app helps curb black marketing, reach genuine farmers
Officials from mandal level to senior ranks regularly interact with farmers to gather feedback on the Urea app. Based on field-level inputs, the government has introduced timely modifications to improve usability and effectiveness.
At present, the Urea app is operational in 22 districts across the State. Authorities continue to review implementation challenges and resolve issues faced by farmers on a real-time basis.
Since its launch, 5.75 lakh farmers across Telangana have purchased fertilisers. Through the platform, farmers have so far bought 20.79 lakh bags of urea.
The government reiterated that farmer welfare remained the central objective of the Urea app. Officials said the system would continue to evolve to ensure equitable fertiliser distribution and protect farmers from exploitation.
