Hyderabad: The Special Intensive Revision process of electoral rolls will begin across Telangana on June 25, with officials directed to ensure complete transparency and effective implementation of the exercise.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy issued the instructions during a video conference held on Friday to review preparations for the Special Intensive Revision. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vasan Venkateshwar Reddy and election officials also participated in the meeting.
The Chief Electoral Officer said the Election Commission of India had issued detailed guidelines for the exercise. Therefore, District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers must strictly follow them at every stage of implementation. He directed officials to conduct the door-to-door survey efficiently and ensure accurate voter data collection across the state.
Special Intensive Revision to involve field-level coordination
Sudarshan Reddy instructed Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and volunteers to work in close coordination during the Special Intensive Revision process. Furthermore, officials must conduct review meetings at least once a week and organise awareness programmes at the grassroots level.
He also directed authorities to provide comprehensive training to BLOs on filling, distributing, collecting and uploading Enumeration Forms (EFs). The Chief Electoral Officer said awareness campaigns should use pamphlets, frequently asked questions (FAQs) and local outreach activities to ensure wider public participation.
Special Intensive Revision to ensure transparent voter rolls
Officials were asked to maintain continuous monitoring at the field level to ensure transparency throughout the exercise. In addition, Sudarshan Reddy directed authorities to involve political parties, gram panchayats and other stakeholders in the Special Intensive Revision process.
He said proper implementation of the Election Commission’s guidelines would help prepare accurate and reliable electoral rolls. The Chief Electoral Officer urged all concerned officials to work diligently and complete the exercise in a systematic manner.
District Election Officers, district collectors, Electoral Registration Officers, Hyderabad district officials, nodal officers, IT personnel and election staff attended the review meeting.
