Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the government aims to transform Telangana into a national Education and Sports Hub through major reforms in education, skill development and sports infrastructure.
Speaking at LB Stadium on Friday, he launched the distribution of Young India student kits to 27.50 lakh students and laid foundation stones for sports complexes in several districts.
The Chief Minister said the establishment of Young India Integrated Residential Schools and the Young India Sports University forms a key part of the state’s Education and Sports Hub vision.
Education and Sports Hub to prepare youth for future challenges
Revanth Reddy warned that rapid advances in artificial intelligence could affect employment opportunities worldwide. Therefore, the government launched skill development programmes to prepare young people for emerging job markets. He said the state introduced German and Japanese language training alongside English to improve overseas employment prospects.
Moreover, the government transformed Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres and established a Skill University to develop industry-ready talent. The Chief Minister urged students studying in social welfare institutions to pursue careers as doctors, IAS officers, IPS officers and political leaders. He also called on students to contribute actively to the state’s development and nation-building efforts.
Education and Sports Hub backed by higher investment
Revanth Reddy blamed the previous BRS government for weakening educational standards and neglecting welfare measures in government institutions. He said his government increased diet and cosmetic charges soon after assuming office. In addition, it focused on strengthening public education by reviving government schools.
Responding to criticism over the absence of a dedicated Education Minister, the Chief Minister said he retained the portfolio to personally oversee reforms in the sector. Furthermore, he claimed that growing demand for government schools reflected rising confidence in public education.
Revanth Reddy said the government allocated 8.5 percent of the state budget to education. He added that Telangana earmarked Rs.26,600 crore for education in the 2026-27 financial year as part of its long-term Education and Sports Hub strategy.
