Hyderabad: The Telangana government decided to conduct Cabinet meetings through a fully paperless system under the Telangana Digital Cabinet initiative, marking a major step towards digital governance and administrative modernisation.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy chaired the Cabinet meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, where ministers approved the decision.
As part of the Telangana Digital Cabinet initiative, Industries and Information Technology Minister D. Sridhar Babu distributed tablets to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other Cabinet ministers.
Officials demonstrated the new digital platform during the meeting. They also explained how ministers would manage Cabinet business through electronic systems.
Telangana Digital Cabinet replaces paper-based processes
Under the new system, ministers will access Cabinet agendas, meeting notes and related documents through e-books on their tablets. As a result, the government will eliminate printed files and significantly reduce paper consumption during Cabinet meetings.
Furthermore, officials demonstrated the digital workflow and highlighted its role in streamlining decision-making. They said the platform would also improve administrative efficiency.
Telangana Digital Cabinet strengthens e-governance
The Telangana Digital Cabinet initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen technology-driven governance and modernise official processes.
By adopting digital documentation, the government aims to improve accessibility, speed up information sharing and enhance coordination among ministers. Moreover, the digital platform will help departments manage information more efficiently.
Officials said all future Cabinet meetings will use the new system. Ministers will receive relevant documents electronically before and during deliberations. Consequently, the government expects the initiative to improve efficiency, strengthen transparency and promote environmentally sustainable administrative practices.
