Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved the implementation of a Digital cabinet system, paving the way for paperless cabinet meetings and digital management of official records.
The government will develop the system at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore. The initiative received approval in line with the state’s efforts to modernise administrative processes and improve governance efficiency.
Officials said Uttarakhand has already implemented a similar model. Accordingly, the government is adapting the cabinet solution to Telangana’s requirements with necessary modifications.
Digital cabinet system to enable paperless cabinet functioning
Meanwhile, the government held discussions with National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) for implementation of the project. It also appointed Telangana Digital Transformation Services (TGDTS) as the nodal agency for executing the programme.
Further, the government sanctioned Rs 20 lakh as the first instalment for launching the project. Under the new system, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and ministers will be able to access cabinet agendas and official files through tablets and computers.
In addition, cabinet notes, proposals and decisions will become available in a fully digital format. The system will also allow ministers to review cabinet agendas from any location and at any time.
Officials said the government will incorporate strong security measures to prevent unauthorised access, information leaks and hacking attempts. The platform will use dedicated login credentials and password-based authentication for users.
Consequently, file management before and after cabinet meetings will become more streamlined. The government expects the initiative to improve administrative speed, transparency and overall efficiency in decision-making.
