Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cyber Police warned that Online shopping scams are increasing across digital platforms. Officials urged citizens to verify transactions before making payments or sharing personal information.
The Cyber Crimes Unit issued the advisory as part of the “Jagrut Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad” awareness campaign. Officials highlighted several methods used by fraudsters to target online buyers and sellers.
According to the advisory, scammers use fake payment screenshots, QR code frauds, fake courier links and unrealistic discount offers. Officials said these tactics continue to cause financial losses.
Cyber criminals often use fabricated payment confirmations. They use them to convince sellers that a transaction has been completed. They also circulate fraudulent links and deceptive messages to steal money and sensitive information.
