Telangana digital transformation gains momentum, says Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said Telangana was emerging as a national role model in digital transformation through citizen-centric governance and technology-driven growth.

He said the State government was preparing a comprehensive roadmap to deliver public services with greater efficiency, transparency and accessibility.

Sridhar Babu spoke at the “Digital Transformation Finance Summit 2026” organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India at Novotel HICC in Hyderabad on Friday.

The Minister said the global economy was witnessing an unprecedented digital shift. According to him, digital ecosystems were reshaping traditional operational models across industries.

He stated that countries adapting quickly to digital changes would lead the future global economy. Therefore, he said governments must build strong technology ecosystems and skilled workforces.

Telangana digital transformation targets future growth

Sridhar Babu said India emerged as one of the world’s largest digital economies with rapid progress in digital payments and public digital infrastructure.

He noted that Telangana had become a major growth engine in India’s digital journey. Moreover, he said the State government was building a future-ready ecosystem focused on innovation, talent and sustainable growth.

The Minister said Telangana aimed to contribute 10 per cent to India’s GDP by 2047.

He added that the government was encouraging next-generation technologies and strengthening digital infrastructure to support long-term economic growth.

Telangana digital transformation reshapes finance sector

Sridhar Babu said the role of Chartered Accountants had changed significantly in recent years.

He observed that finance professionals were no longer limited to bookkeeping and auditing. Instead, they had evolved into strategic business advisors for corporate organisations.

The Minister said technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Cybersecurity created major opportunities in the financial sector.

However, he warned that emerging technologies also introduced serious challenges. These included cyber frauds, deepfakes, crypto scams and cybercrime threats.

Telangana digital transformation needs cybersecurity focus

Sridhar Babu said Chartered Accountants must expand their role beyond conventional auditing practices.

He urged finance professionals to contribute actively to cyber assurance and digital risk management. In addition, he stressed the need for skilling, upskilling and reskilling to meet rapidly changing technological demands.

The Minister also invited professional institutions and industry experts to work closely with the Telangana government.

He said such collaboration would help strengthen Telangana’s digital ecosystem and cybersecurity framework.
