Telangana to use advanced tech to cut pending court cases

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao directed senior officials to prepare an action plan to use advanced technology to reduce pending cases in various state courts.

Chairing a review meeting at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat on Thursday, he stressed that digital records management, constant monitoring of case progress through the Court Case Monitoring System (CCMS), and coordination between departments could accelerate case disposal and ensure transparency.

He instructed officials to study monitoring systems in place in the Supreme Court as well as in Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Punjab, and to adapt a similar model for Telangana.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asked departments to harness new technology not only to bring down the case backlog but also to strengthen transparency in governance. Rao said the system would support the state’s “Rising Telangana-2047” goal.

The advanced tech court cases plan is to be drafted in a week

Ramakrishna Rao specifically told officials from the Law, Revenue and Home departments to coordinate with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and draft the plan within a week.

The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Special Principal Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, Chief Secretary to the CM Sheshadri, Revenue Secretary Lokesh Kumar, and GAD Secretary B.M.D. Ekka, CCLA Secretary Makarand, Law Secretary Tirupatiah and other senior officials.
