Hyderabad: Telangana graduate MLC polls triggered sharp criticism from Telangana Rajya Adhikara Party MLC Teenmaar Mallanna. He alleged a conspiracy behind the Congress candidate selection for two graduate MLC seats.
Mallanna targeted the party for choosing Reddy community candidates for both constituencies. He also accused senior Congress leader Jana Reddy of staging a political drama.
The Congress named Sama Ram Mohan Reddy for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduate MLC constituency. It also chose Ramireddy Sarvotham Reddy for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal seat.
Both candidates belong to the Reddy community. Mallanna said the decision did not surprise him.
Instead, he mocked the Congress over the selection. “Redla party Redlaku kakunda BCilaku tickets iste ne ashcharyapadali,” he said.
Mallanna alleged that Reddy leaders within the Congress had staged a drama. He claimed Jana Reddy, another Teacher MLC and another Reddy leader were behind the alleged conspiracy.
He described the two Congress nominees as mere “sacrificial lambs”. Mallanna claimed their objective was not to secure a Congress victory. He alleged that they wanted Reddy candidates to win instead.
Telangana graduate MLC polls spark BC representation debate
Mallanna further alleged that the group had reached a secret agreement with a person from the BRS. He said the alleged arrangement aimed to influence the outcome of the two constituencies.
He also recalled Congress’ earlier performance in these seats. According to Mallanna, the party had not even secured deposits there in the past.
Mallanna said Congress gained recognition in the constituencies only after his victory. He described the Telangana graduate MLC polls as a contest between Reddys, Velamas and BCs.
He also alleged that some forces were trying to show that the state had no BC movement. Mallanna said his Telangana Rajya Adhikara Party would field BC candidates in both constituencies.
He expressed confidence that his party would win both seats with BC candidates. Mallanna said he would clarify his own candidature soon.
The Congress has already named Sama Ram Mohan Reddy and Ramireddy Sarvotham Reddy for the two constituencies.
