Sravan Dasoju praises Justice Raghunandan Rao’s farewell speech

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju on Tuesday praised Justice Raghunandan Rao for his farewell speech at his retirement ceremony, describing it as a reaffirmation of constitutional values and judicial independence. He said the retired judge’s remarks reflected the judiciary’s responsibility to safeguard the rights of ordinary citizens.

In a statement, Dasoju said Justice Raghunandan Rao had demonstrated throughout his judicial career that courts existed to uphold the rule of law rather than serve the interests of governments. Referring to the judge’s farewell address, he said the speech offered guidance on preserving the constitutional role of the judiciary.

Justice Raghunandan Rao lauded for judicial legacy

Dasoju recalled the judge’s academic journey from Hyderabad Public School to Osmania University before entering the legal profession. He said Justice Rao practised as a lawyer for more than three decades before serving on the Bench.

The BRS leader also noted that the judge had delivered more than 25,000 judgments during his judicial career. He described the retired judge as a person of integrity who consistently upheld justice and constitutional principles.

Quoting the farewell speech, Dasoju referred to Justice Raghunandan Rao’s observation that judicial powers existed to protect justice and safeguard the rights of common citizens rather than assist those in authority.
