Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao on Monday demanded the immediate withdrawal of Siddapur dump yard GO No. 641, alleging that the proposed facility in Siddapur village of Kothur mandal would adversely affect farmers and nearby villages.
After meeting a delegation of farmers and local residents, Harish Rao claimed the proposed 86-acre dump yard would contaminate water sources and damage agricultural land.
Siddapur dump yard may affect nearby villages
According to Harish Rao, the proposed site would impact Gutta Cheruvu and nearly 20 surrounding villages. Moreover, he expressed concern over the location’s proximity to the Jahangir Peer Dargah.
The BRS leader alleged that the previous government had planned to establish an IT park on the same land to generate employment for local youth. Furthermore, he accused the Congress government of replacing a development project with a pollution-causing facility.
Harish Rao warned that the BRS would launch a large-scale agitation if the government failed to withdraw GO No. 641. Additionally, he urged the government to identify an alternative location away from residential areas and agricultural lands.
