BRS opposes Siddapur dumping yard, launches protest march

Hyderabad: The BRS on Monday demanded that the government withdraw the proposed Siddapur dumping yard in Kothur mandal of Shadnagar constituency.

According to party leaders, the project could adversely affect nearby villages in Rangareddy district.

Meanwhile, party leaders and workers launched a march from Siddapur village to the Collectorate.

They organised the “Chalo Collectorate” programme to oppose the proposal.

Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy joined the protest. She also expressed solidarity with local residents.

Additionally, she alleged that the Congress government was promoting real estate interests under the Future City initiative.

Siddapur dumping yard proposal sparks opposition

Sabitha Indra Reddy said the previous BRS government had acquired around 350 acres in the area.

According to her, officials acquired the land for an IT park and a food processing unit.

However, she alleged that the present government now plans to establish a dumping yard on the same land.

The BRS leader said the proposed facility could create problems for nearby villages.

Furthermore, she expressed concern about its impact on residents and livestock.

She also warned of environmental pollution and damage to the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, former MLA and Shadnagar BRS in-charge Anjaiah Yadav led the protest march.

Additionally, several party leaders and supporters participated in the programme.

As a result, the protesters reiterated their demand for immediate withdrawal of the Siddapur dumping yard proposal.

Furthermore, Sabitha Indra Reddy warned that the BRS would intensify its agitation if the government failed to cancel the plan.
