Hyderabad: SHE Teams apprehended 127 people for allegedly harassing or misbehaving with women during June while acting on 102 complaints across Hyderabad.
Police also secured 14 convictions through investigation and legal action, according to an official statement released on Friday.
SHE Teams intensify awareness and enforcement
During special surveillance drives, SHE Teams caught six men for allegedly harassing women in public places. Police also booked four transgender persons for unlawful activities.
The court sentenced the six men to three days’ simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,000 on each of them. In addition, the court fined two transgender persons ₹1,050 each.
Furthermore, SHE Teams organised 1,267 awareness and surveillance programmes at educational institutions, workplaces, transport hubs and other vulnerable locations.
The team advised people to remain alert against fake social media profiles, avoid sharing excessive personal information online and use strong, unique passwords to protect their accounts. They also encouraged victims of harassment to report incidents without delay.
