Fake vehicle number plate detected through surveillance systems

Investigators booked the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Officials said advanced surveillance technology played a key role in detecting the offence.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police use CCTV cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems to identify traffic violations and vehicle-related offences.

According to police, these systems help track suspicious vehicle movements and detect registration number misuse.

The investigation began after authorities found that traffic challans were being issued to the wrong vehicle owner.

Police warned that using a Fake vehicle number plate, tampered plate or duplicate registration number is a serious offence.

They said such violations could lead to criminal action and penalties under applicable laws.

Furthermore, police urged citizens to report any suspected misuse of vehicle registration numbers.
