Sampath Kumar files defamation case against KTR, Harish Rao

Hyderabad: AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar filed a defamation case Sampath Kumar against senior BRS leaders K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao over alleged false propaganda.

The case was filed in a special court for public representatives in Nampally. It also named Manne Krishank, the management of Namasthe Telangana newspaper and the Telugu Scribe social media handle.

Sampath Kumar said the defamation case Sampath Kumar related to claims that he demanded ₹8 crore from a contractor. He termed the allegation “fabricated and malicious.”

He alleged that T. Harish Rao had earlier offered him ₹30 crore to switch parties. However, he said he remained committed to Congress ideology.

Sampath Kumar said the claims against him were baseless. Therefore, he approached the court seeking legal remedy.

He said the defamation case aimed to counter misinformation. In addition, he stressed the need to protect his reputation.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing soon. Meanwhile, legal proceedings will determine the course of the case.

Officials said the court would examine the allegations and responses from all parties. Further, the case is likely to draw political attention.
