KTR sends legal notice to Bandi Sanjay over phone tapping remarks

Hyderabad: BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday served legal notices to Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar over remarks he made on alleged phone tapping. The notices stated that Sanjay’s comments, made at an August 8 press conference, were false, baseless and intended to damage KTR’s reputation.

KTR’s lawyers alleged that the BJP leader had repeatedly made unsubstantiated statements for political mileage, misusing his official position to malign a legislator. They said none of Sanjay’s claims had supporting evidence and accused him of making “malicious propaganda” to stay in the news.

Legal warning cites defamation over repeated ‘phone tapping’ charges

The notice demanded an unconditional apology within seven days and a commitment to refrain from making direct or indirect defamatory statements about KTR or his family. It warned that failure to comply would lead to civil and criminal proceedings, holding Sanjay liable for any loss caused. KTR, citing his service during and after Telangana’s formation, said the allegations had harmed his public standing.
