Hyderabad: An RTC Bus accident claimed the lives of a couple after a state-run bus hit their motorcycle on the Wahed Nagar main road in the Malakpet area on Thursday evening.
Police identified the victims as Tirupathirao and Venkatamma, natives of Suryapet district. The couple had recently arrived in Hyderabad and were staying at their daughter’s residence in Kothapet.
According to police, the couple left on a two-wheeler towards Tank Bund on Thursday evening. When they reached near Moosarambagh Hitech Motors, an RTC Bus belonging to the Dilsukhnagar depot hit their bike from behind at high speed.

Due to the impact, the couple fell onto the road. The rear wheels of the RTC Bus ran over them, killing both on the spot, police said.
After receiving the alert, personnel from Malakpet Police Station reached the scene. They shifted the bodies to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police registered a case and began an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Further details were awaited.
